About the Awards

The SBID International Design Awards has firmly established itself as one of the most prestigious and enjoyable events in the design industry calendar.

The awards recognise, reward and celebrate design excellence across a broad range of categories. Winning a SBID International Design Award is a high achievement – they are evaluated by leading industry experts for their technical content and aesthetic creativity while the design-conscious public also has a say in choosing the most inspiring projects.


The international judging panel comprises industry leaders, including Lewis Carnie, Head of Programmes, BBC Radio 2; Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer and Design Director at Aston Martin; Sir Michael Dixon, Director of The Natural History Museum, London; Ben McOwen Wilson, Director of YouTube EMEA; Kevin Mau, Senior Creative Director at The Boeing Company; David Lewis, Managing Director of Sunseeker London and Jane Preston, Facilities Manager UK, Real Estate & Workplace Services, Google.


During the judging process, entries in 14 categories are rigorously scrutinised. This year’s categories included Interior Design Project Over £1 Million and Hotel Design and new categories include Show Flats & Developments and Innovative Product Design.

Winners and finalists enjoy numerous benefits, such as free entry to the House of Lords networking event*; inclusion in the SBID Global Interior Design 2016 coffee table book; a winner/finalist certificate; extensive media and social media exposure throughout the year and the right to use the ‘SBID Winner/Finalist 2016′ logo on their website.


Attendees of the prestigious SBID Awards ceremony network with top design professionals and potential clients. Attendance is also an opportunity to see the winners presented with the coveted SBID International Design Awards crystal trophies.

Fellow of the Year


SBID’s annual Fellowship Award honours an individual who has made an impact creatively and also enhanced British society through their work.



A three-tier selection process includes a technical panel, a board of creative experts & public vote to acknowledge the highest levels of creative and technical endeavour.



Supporting the awards gives sponsors a chance to showcase their brand to industry peers, potential clients and a design-aware public.
