Adjacent to vibrant Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, Canada, the interior renovation of the nineth floor of the storied Atrium on Bay building accommodates two distinct spaces shared by several Ryerson University user groups: the School of Performance, The Brookfield Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and iBoost Zone. The School of Performance side provides a consolidated space for faculty and administrative functions associated with programs in acting, dance, and production, while also serving as audience relations, a production zone, and a student touchdown area. Across the hall, the Brookfield Institute and iBoost is a new innovation hub supporting the work of student entrepreneurs and inventors. Through enhanced lighting, vibrant graphics, considered use of wood and glass, and an exposed ceiling, the design creates dynamic and inviting spaces for collaboration between staff, students and industry. Inspired by the users’ synergistic and interactive ways of working, the spaces are open, transparent and flexible.
