Design Practice Location:
Project One transformed this pokey back of a Victorian Terraced house from an awkward and small kitchen and utility room into an urban retreat with hints of modern industrial design. The exposed brick wall is framed with sandblasted radiators and up-down lights. The worktop is designed to replicate a butcher’s block and is made from oak, 150ml thick. The custom-built units and shelving wrap around the existing utility room, keeping it hidden and seeming as if the space has always been there. Light floods in through the skylight and bi-fold doors. This lifestyle space is contemporary and warm with elements of the designer’s ‘luxdustrial’ style. A mix of woods and materials to give the space interesting features, all tied together by large concrete floor tiles.
