Design Practice Location:
Double Tree Hilton Hotel is the first design-led hotel in Yerevan in Armenia. The brief required the hotel to be aligned in its style to Hilton’s standards while reflecting the flavour and traditions of the location. The common areas have been designed to co-exist with a large open space – where different functions are delimited by partitions, drapes and furniture. Colours and decorative textures have been used to re-interpret Armenian culture. The palette is a mix of neutral tones that blend with the architectural design and bold pomegranate reds, golds and blues for the furniture, these are typical of the Armenian chromatic style. Most of the furniture was bespoke made for the project. The lighting design was another key element: the impressive cascade chandeliers in the hall are inspired by local decorative art traditions; they create a centripetal force and are also used in smaller versions for the bar and desk reception.
