Design Practice Location:
This is a six-floor single-family villa equipped with lift and with two floors underground as well as four floors above ground. Usually a basement space is associated with darkness, dampness, insufficient light and bad air circulation. To counter this, the designer boldly redesigned the space and carried out reconstruction work without changing the main structure of the property. All the walls and floor were removed while the original building structure was retained. Some floors now open into the atrium space at the top of the house, so that upper and lower spaces echo each other. The designer has also created bridges and corridors so that those in the house can easily interact and communicate.
