Design Practice Location:
This apartment is situated in a residential skyscraper. Because of the structure, the large-scale beams and columns can affect the interior height dimensions and the interior perspective. To counter this, the designer boldly embedded an inclined wall into the space after re-organising the spatial axis. The inclined wall is the main focus of the apartment and serves to dispel the tension of the original layout; it also takes on different functions. On the inclined wall, decorative groove lines with different dimensions make the wall appear as if an art installation and also create a sense of spatial rhythm within the space. This also mitigates the heavy feeling of the stone structure. On the interface of the beams and columns, the designer uses mirrored glass for increased impact, the mirrors creating overlapping images; the wall also serves to connect the public and private areas. The client also requested sliding doors to alter the configuration of the apartment according the changing needs.
