In the process of designing Anluan Court & Exhibition Center, the design team considered such themes as the importance of community and the need for space; they converted these elements into a design language that perfectly reflects natural elements and urban expectations. The reception hall, nine metres high, is an extremely tall, narrow space. Through the use of natural elements such as daylight and water as well as geometric motifs, a rich sense of rhythm has been created. The existing narrow doorway at the entrance of the reception hall was extended and now seamlessly blends into the setting. The use of grilles in the hall has created clever ways to introduce light into the rooms and allows light to be playful. Eschewing fussy details, the designers instead focused on the essence of natural materials, concentrating on tuning into the building’s innate space and light. This is perceptible to those who enter the space and fall into time with the building’s own rhythms.
