The 88 storey 15 Hudson Yards residential tower anchors the southeast corner of Hudson Yards East at 30th Street and 11th Avenue. While the characteristic feature of many tall buildings is an iconic top, Rockwell Group and Diller Scofido + Renfro challenged conventional skyscraper typology by morphing the structure subtly from a rectangular base to an attenuated quatrefoil form as it rises to the sky, taking advantage of 360 degree views around the periphery. The building’s form results in distinctive floor plates and unit plans, each fitted with bespoke glass, which ensures that each of the residences is unique. Rockwell Group and DS+R also collaborated on the tower’s lobby, amenities, and the kitchens and bathrooms of the condominium units. Our approach is based on modern elegance and clean lines, with a rich material palette. Rockwell created a compelling design that is simultaneously calm and strong.
