Design Practice Location:
The project involved refurbishing and extending the current pool and spa building and linking the building with a new covered walkway to the Clutton suites. The building is extremely successful for creating a new balanced and unified facade, which allows for new solarium areas, gym with views back to the Clutton Wing, an extended restaurant as well as new storage, changing and treatment rooms for guests. A new glazed walkway linking the hotel to the new spa was designed to echo the former greenhouses which sat within the kitchen garden. The dominant brick wall it leans against is deemed of extreme importance by the National Trust, so a light touch in restoring and repointing was adopted. The design team collaborated with interior designer Ameryick Chastenet de Ger in order for the Spa to continue to make a positive contribution as a heritage asset to this and future generations.
