Graceful Home

Matthews Rea designed ‘Graceful Home’ for a South African family who have lived in the UK for a number of years. The brief was to bring the outside-in, utilising full height glazed panels and bifold doors onto various terraces. Set within beautifully landscaped gardens, views were optimised with exterior lighting to create dramatic night time scenes with uplighters enhancing full sized statues.

The property boasts seven fireplaces, all carefully selected for their gracious, industrial charm and warmth. Working alongside building contractors, Matthews Rea selected exposed brickwork as a spinal slice through the home, creating a textured backdrop to the wine display and double height first floor landing. The bricks were carefully selected to offer warm tones and compliment the smoked oak, herringbone timber flooring.

Plush upholstery velvets and fabric backed wall coverings with woven silk metallic details feed into the comfortable industrial aesthetic and compliment the harder finishes perfectly.
