Design Practice Location:
Pechersk School International (PSI) is a unique international school in Kiev, attended by students from more than 40 countries. The school is close to the Holosievo National Park and serves as a contemporary and bright accent in a 1970s modernist neighbourhood. The new extension to the school consists of auditoriums and open spaces that enables the leap away from old educational methods and towards contemporary ways of learning that inspire and promote humanist and personality-oriented development. The main challenge for the architects, ARCHIMATIKA, was to create a building that could exist in harmony with the existing building. The aim was to create a complementary extension while at the same time expressing the school’s innovative approaches towards teaching, its ethos regarding artistic development and its commitment to innovation in education.
