Public Space Design Finalist
White Arkitekter
Selma Lagerlöf Cultural Centre
Vastra Gotaland, Sweden
Creativity, co-utilisation and flexibility characterise Gothenburg’s emerging Selma City District. The City of Gothenburg not only wanted The Selma Lagerlöfs Centre to be a centrepiece of the neighbourhood and a unique mixed-use civic building with municipal headquarters and cultural centre in one, they also asked for a clear reuse strategy for the interior design. White Arkitekter took on and exceeded the challenge reaching 92% reused furniture and materials in what has to be seen as a pioneer project in the era of circular architecture.
